Carnivalisimo: Wooden, hand-painted earrings

I received my Christmas orders very late in December but I was not deterred. There would be earrings in time for Carnival 2023. Now, I’m not a professional jeweller – and that wasn’t my intention. I simply wanted to try my hand again at creating wearable art. I enjoy making small things for my friends and well-wishers to purchase at markets or for events.

So what is “Carnivalisimo”? It’s a fun-filled, larger than life creative expression exploding with colour combinations. These wooden pieces are much larger than your regular earrings but it’s also the latest trend. I worked on at least 25 pieces during the month of January to be ready for the Carnival season. They are all hand-painted, varnished and individually packaged.

On a personal note, I am pleased to have followed through on my resolution this year to keep creating. It doesn’t matter if I do small things. I’d rather do several small things that nothing at all. Oftentimes, artists hesitate if they don’t have large, impactful things to show. This year I’m beating my block inch by inch.

See you on the road!
